Skin Adipocyte Stem Cell Self-Renewal Is Regulated by a PDGFA/AKT-Signaling Axis

Bhaskar Chanda Stem Cell Horsley and colleagues show that skin adipocyte stem cells are maintained and expanded through PDGFA, which activates a PI3K/AKT-signaling pathway to regulate gene expression. Loss of PDGFA expression during aging may well contribute to age-related loss of adipocyte stem cells and, thus, adipose tissue.
