Functional Coupling with Cardiac Muscle Promotes Maturation of hPSC-Derived Sympathetic Neurons

Bhaskar Chanda Stem Cell Oh et al. differentiate human pluripotent stem cells into functional sympathetic neurons that can functionally and physically couple with ventricular cardiomyocytes. This coupling controls cardiomyocyte beating and promotes neuronal maturation, providing a platform for studying neuronal regulation of cardiac behavior and modeling complex intercellular physiology.
