Phosphorylation of eIF2α Is a Translational Control Mechanism Regulating Muscle Stem Cell Quiescence and Self-Renewal

Bhaskar Chanda Stem Cell Adult stem cells require regulated protein synthesis. Crist and colleagues show that translational control by eIF2α regulates the activity of the skeletal muscle stem cell. Pharmacological manipulation of this pathway maintains the regenerative capacity of muscle stem cells that is normally lost after culture ex vivo.
